12/1/2022 0 Comments Radio screen lights up no sound![]() You will need to have an authorized Mercedes-Benz service technician replace the whole unit if AGW is defective. The Audio Gateway is the brains of the Mercedes-Benz COMAND system. That would cause all of the LED pixels to stay dark, and it would only take one wire ie the ground. If not, its probably a small fine ribbon cable connecting the LCD to its controller inside the radio. You need to figure out which component is defective by bypassing each component until you find the problem. Any indication of any change in luminance (best to check in the dark). When one of your components goes down, your COMAND will stop functioning. The fiber optic cables are used to transmit the sound signal of your Mercedes-Benz between the different units for better sound quality and faster transfer rates. Troubleshooting the fiber-optic loop is the next step that you should do if removing the fuses does not solve the no-sound problem. The radios display lights up, showing different station s as I select. A fuse chart for your model can be found on your fuse box, use the chart to identify the fuses for these components. I just turned the radio on (with car running) and no sound. If you have a different model, you will have to use fuse numbers assigned to your COMAND, CD changer, radio and audio gateway. Take note: The fuse number will depend on the model of Mercedes-Benz that you have. Take out the key from the ignition and don’t turn on the car for at least 15 minutes. The second fuse box may be on the left side of the trunk.Assuming the microcontroller was not properly resetting the programming counter to zero to. stop the car, switch off the ignition, open the door, wait a couple of seconds, then restart the car with the radio off, then switch it on. Pry the side cover, look for fuse 26 and 28 and remove both fuses. So while driving, radio was flashing on and off like a railroad crossing signal. If it does, then you have a short somewhere. If you find a blown fuse, try replacing it and then driving around for a while to see if it blows again. You might want to start by checking the fuses. Find the fuse box under the dashboard. If you get in your car one day, and the radio won’t turn on at all, it’s probably a power or ground issue. This normally restores the systems to working order. Doing a soft reset for these systems will force the head unit to rest. For you to do that, you will need to remove the fuses for the CD Changer, COMAND/ NAV / DVD Player / Radio, Audio Gateway AGW, and the Voice Unit if it is equipped with one, for at least 10 minutes. The most common solution to fix any of these issues is to try to perform a soft reset of the COMAND unit. radio shuts off randomly, turns on and then off We have listed down common issues with the Mercedes-Benz COMAND system, including problems with Once removed, this instantly fixed the problem for me.Are you having trouble with a non-working radio on your Mercedes-Benz? Make sure the remaining solder is not going to short out anything once the capacitor is removed. sounds like an issue with the screen and/or the BCM module since it controls. Heat up one side at a time while using a very fine pair of tweezers to wiggle it out. ![]() The capacitor is tiny, about the size of a very small breadcrumb. Solved by unsoldering and removing the capacitor C028 located on the back of the motherboard in the corner as shown in images. Wondering if maybe there's anyway to flash new firmware without needing the screen perhaps but im stuck Was going to try flashing a new firmware verson on but no longer can since its not showing anything. Got annoyed so waited till today to try sort it out, Then today i turned it on and it displayed a corrupt looking VW logo briefly and is now not showing anything. They tried and said I need whole new radio. I tried a factory reset and made no difference. Drove it off the dealership lot and it would not work. The red lights on the unit stayed lit even when the headlights and whole car were off. Then suddenly yesterday while i was driving, apple carplay suddenly stopped working and so did all audio. So i bought the Noname 187B model a couple months ago, installed it in my 2011 Polo and it was great and i loved it. ![]()
